Catslide Party 2013
Our theme was to be 'The town where I was born'. Then I remembered the Beatles song, Yellow Submarine so what went out in our invitation email became:
The Theme:
We invite you to come in a fancy dress 'inspired' by the first lines of what i think is the Beatle's worst song, 'Yellow submarine'. For those who are too young to know or old enough to have forgotten, the lines are:
In the town where I was born,
Lived a man who sailed to sea,
And he told us of his life,
In the land of submarines,
Now i think this has some good possibilities, you can:
celebrate the town where you were born...major prizes for those who can guess where from your outfit
take up the nautical theme
take up the psychedelia theme.
As the pics show, this resulted in some remarkable attires in which the attired were convinced of the obviousness of their representation and the guessers were equally convinced of their obscurity. Perhaps this was not so surprising as some of us were born in some rather obscure places.
Rosemary came as Richard III representing Leicester and I came as the Northwich.
Many thanks to Thomas, Roger, Jason and Ann for contributing their pics.

I was surprised that Amanda wasn't dressed up yesterday, this morning, all is revealed. Her hat was made from real grass turf and before leaving Nottingham she decided to give it a good watering. Unforunately, it was rather too good a watering with soggy car and soggy hat too wet to wear. It's dried off enough now though.
